We met at 17, long before marriage was even on our radar. In many ways, we couldn't be more different. Liza wanted to see the world; Le Roux wanted to build one. Liza follows every interesting side alley, while Le Roux always seems to know exactly where he's going. Yet there was never a logical reason for us to choose each other, we simply loved.

After university, our lives took different directions. Liza spent three years travelling and living abroad while Le Roux built his career in Johannesburg. We pursued our individual dreams while navigating long distance, and every reunion felt like meeting a new version of the person we loved, while also coming home to someone deeply familiar.

One of the greatest gifts of our relationship has been growing up together. We've had front-row seats to each other's becoming. Celebrating successes, carrying one another through challenges, and cheering each other on as we pursued the lives we felt called to live.

Nine years later, we are still very different people. We still find each other fascinating. But through every change, every challenge, and every unexpected turn, we have remained each other's greatest supporter, safest place, and favourite teammate.

Now, surrounded by the people we love most, we celebrate the choice we made all those years ago and commit to choosing each other for the rest of our lives.
